Metribuzin is a member of the class of 1,2,4-triazines that is 1,2,4-triazin-5(4H)-one substituted by an amino group at position 4, tert-butyl group at position 6 and a methylsulfanyl group at position 3. It has a role as a xenobiotic, an environmental contaminant, a herbicide and an agrochemical. It is a member of 1,2,4-triazines, an organic sulfide and a cyclic ketone.

Solubility
In water 1.05 g/l (20℃). In DMSO, acetone, ethyl acetate, dichloromethane, acetonitrile, isopropanol, polyethyleneglycol >250, benzene 220, xylene 60, n-octanol 54 (all in g/l , 20 ℃).

Application
Uses Selective herbicide used for preemergence broad-leaved weed control in potatoes, tomatoes, lucerne, raspberry, and sugarcane, and postemergence weed control in beets. Also used for selective control of annual grasses. Uses Metribuzin is is an aminotriazinone herbicide used in agriculture for both pre-and post-emergence in crops including soybean, potatoes, tomatoes, and sugar cane. Metribuzin acts by inhibiting photosynthesis by disrupting photosystem II. Uses Herbicide.
